
Elizabeth Peacock, 93 of Sequatchie went to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 27. On January 21, 1932, she was born in Jasper to Walter Roberson and Nettia Myers Roberson. She graduated from Marion County High School in 1949. Elizabeth was married to William J. “Bill” Peacock for 54 years until his death and was a devoted homemaker. She was an avid gardener and had beautiful flowers all around her yard every summer. One of her favorite past times was sitting in her rocking chair on her front porch, enjoying her flowers and watching the birds and butterflies as they too enjoyed them. Elizabeth was known as Granny Peacock to most of everyone who knew her. She was immediately loved by everyone who met her and would do anything for those she loved. She was a member of Sequatchie First Baptist Church from 1953 until her death. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her father Walter L. Roberson, mother Nettia Myers Roberson, husband William J. “Bill” Peacock, brother Walter Lee Roberson Jr., sisters Bertha Collins, Ruby Altman, Virginia Wiley, Ora May Guyton and Dorothy Pickett, and grandson Matthew Peacock.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons Larry (Rita) Peacock, Jack (Fran) Peacock, James (Beverly) Peacock and Clyde (Marcia) Peacock, daughters Wanda (Paul) Williams, Sherry (Roger) Goodwin, Melinda (Gerald) Hargis and Kathy (Berry) Fraley, brother Jim (Claudette) Roberson, brother-in-law Houston Norman, sisters-in-law Della Peacock, Leona Roberson and Evelyn Raper, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 31 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, January 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services were also held on Thursday, January 1 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Wayne Bowman who officiated.
Elizabeth was laid to rest on Thursday, January 1 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Jasper, immediately after the funeral services were held.
Pallbearers were Ben Peacock, Jason Williams, Jacob Peacock, Ryan Peacock, Jeremy Hargis, Mason Hargis, Luke Fraley, Levi Fraley and Travis Peacock, with honorary pallbearers being Austin Goodwin and Neal Warnock.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga, Nurse Heather, CNA Erica and Michelle Morrison and her staff at Serenity on the Farm in South Pittsburg, as well as her caregivers Judy Griffith and Kendra Grant.
