Believed to date from the late 1930s/early 1940s, this postcard shows Shorty Ehrhart in front of his cafe that also served as his residence at Kimball, Tennessee. During World War II, Shorty was accused of being a German spy and was harassed relentlessly. Shorty lived here for over half a century and was at one time an antique bottle collector. The stone used to build Shorty’s came from the creek bed at the foot of the mountain just across U.S. 41.
