EH Marsh Heating and Cooling from South Pittsburg is to set to install a new HVAC system within Kimball’s town hall following an outage that occurred with the facility’s original unit.
Town mayor Rex Pesnell presented quotes from three different HVAC businesses that were submitted for review. The first quote observed was from EH Marshall Heating and Cooling, estimated to $19,780. The quote was followed by the second being DJs HVAC Solutions worth $16,386.40, and the third Keeler Pro Services’ $20,650 quote.
Out of all three, Mayor Pesnell suggested that all aldermen of Kimball accept EH Marsh’s $19,780 quote. While higher in price compared to DJ’s but lower than Keeler’s, Pesnell made the recommendation due to the city having an established relationship with the company for many years. Additionally, if agreeing to the company’s quote, the Board of Mayor & Aldermen will be allowed to make the purchase of the new unit themselves. This move, according to Pesnell, will benefit the board by saving $1,500 in costs to purchase a new unit.
“We’re going to save about $1,500 by us making the purchase ourselves,” said Pesnell.
Pesnell’s recommendation was met with an approved 3-1 vote accepting EH Marshall’s quote, with Vice Mayor Jerry Don voting in opposition. His reasoning was due to a relative lack of information provided in two of the three quotes, leaving him skeptical as to what the city is investing its money into. Despite his opposition, the motion was ultimately carried, allowing for a new unit to be installed to provide heating and air in the main courtroom, foyer area, and conference room of the town hall.
