Jasper’s beloved Easter Egg Extravaganza was recently held at the community park during the week of Easter Sunday.
First launched in 2016, the Extravaganza was created as a way to give back to the community by offering free activities for families to enjoy, along with over 25,000 Easter eggs scattered across the four main baseball fields at the Bobby “Brad” Carter Sports Complex. Since its humble beginnings, the event has drawn hundreds of families each year, all coming together to celebrate Easter as one vibrant community.
City Mayor Jason Turner explained that several local churches band together each year through volunteer work to make the event possible — a tradition that continued for this year’s festivities.
“There are several good churches here that volunteer to help make this happen,” noted Turner.
Members of Plainview Community Church from Tracy City also participated this year, inviting attendees to join them for an Easter morning service held early Easter Sunday.
Additionally, Debbie Gilbert of Faces by Deb and her daughter Brittany attended this year’s event, offering face painting for children wanting a little extra fun. Gilbert shared that her love of face painting began years ago during a family night event at a Chick-fil-A in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. After the event, she became inspired to learn more about the art form online, eventually developing her skills into a full passion.
From Easter egg hunts and inflatables to free cotton candy and a visit from the Easter Bunny, this year’s Easter Egg Extravaganza proved once again to be a rousing success for the town of Jasper — an event that everyone involved looks forward to hosting again next year.
