Dewey Price Thomasson, 80, of Whitwell was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 9. On October 27, 1944, he was born to the late Oscar Thomasson and Edith Murphy Thomasson. Dewey was a member of the Mineral Springs Baptist Church and worked for Parker Towing as a Port Manager before he retired. He loved his family and enjoyed having a good meal with them. Dewey loved going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also loved his numerous vehicles and his view of Mullins Cove from his recliner.
Dewey is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Campbell Thomasson; sisters, Lois Hardy, Aleene Durham and Kay Sartin.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Shane (Jamie) Thomasson; grandchildren, Brody Thomasson, Brynna Thomasson, Brylee Thomasson; brothers, Leon (Edna) Thomasson, Donnie (Juanice) Thomasson; sister-in-law, Cliffa Thomasson; several nieces, nephews, other family members, and special friends.
The family will hold visitation on Saturday, December 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper. There will be a Masonic service from 12:45 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Parlor at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 14, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Thomas Long officiating. Dewey will be laid to rest at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, immediately following the funeral service.
The Pallbearers are Darrell Pittman, Phillip Pittman, Todd Thomasson, Jason Condra, Dave Paris, David Hardy and Herb Thomasson. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Thompson and Benny Don Quarles.
