Dennis Paul Showalter II, 46

Dennis Paul Showalter II, 46 passed away on Thursday, March 24. He was born in Madison Heights, Michigan and later made his home in Jasper, where he built a life centered around his family and community.  Dennis was a devoted husband to his wife Valerie Showalter, with whom he shared 26 happy years of marriage with, and a proud father to his three sons Dennis, Michael, and Landen Showalter.

His family was the most important part of his life and he was deeply committed to providing for them and supporting them in everything they did.  He worked as the store general manager at CVS Pharmacy in Jasper, where he was known for his strong work ethic, leadership and reliability.  In addition to his career, Dennis also served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Jasper Fire Department, demonstrating his willingness to help others and put others before himself.  Dennis was a passionate football fan who loved supporting his local teams, Marion County and Sewanee, and was a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions.  Dennis will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his community, and the steady presence he provided to those around him.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dennis was preceded in death by his grandfather Ray Fults, grandmother Wanda Layne, grandparents Lucile and Elmer Showalter, father-in-law and mother-in-law James and Marilyn Ralston, uncle Michael Fults and cousin Blake Fults.

Dennis is survived by his father Dennis Showalter, mother Sue Fults, wife Valerie Showalter, sons Dennis, Michael and Landen Showalter, sister Sarah Showalter, brother Jerry (Melissa) Blazer, uncle Chris “Boot” Layne, brothers-in-law Larry (Pam) Jabtecki and Nick (Lynette) Jabtecki, and many other, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was on Saturday, March 28 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, March 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.

Funeral services were on Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Greg Steele who officiated.

Dennis was entombed on Sunday March 29 at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper, immediately following the funeral services hosted.

Pallbearers were Jason Turner, Jim McKee, Brian Hatfield, Rudy Honea, Marty Webster and Nick Steele. Honorary pallbearer was Paul West.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Tate Funeral Home, LLC, 950 Mel Dixon Lane, Jasper, Tennessee 37347, 423-942-9500.
