Throughout Marion County, residents experienced an uncommon sight.
A significant amount of snowfall for the area accumulations ranged from 1.9 to 9 inches countywide before melting and freezing temperatures caused large areas of black ice. Surrounding areas north and around Monteagle recorded even higher averages with many road closures. The unusual and severe weather conditions led to various disruptions, including delays and cancellations in many businesses and schools over the past week.
