Claude Wayne Watts, 94, of Jasper, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 3. On September 25, 1930, he was born to the late Claude W. Watts and Frances Lewis Watts. He also was a Merchant Marine. Wayne was married to Barbara Jo Turner Watts for 70 years before her death and was a member of First Baptist Church in Jasper. Before retiring he worked for Combustion Engineering in the engine room. He was a lifelong resident of Marion County and loved traveling all over the country with his family. Wayne was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. He loved spending time with his family.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Jo Turner Watts; and brother, Lloyd Watts.
Left to cherish his memories are his son, Tim Watts; daughter, Sheila Puryear; Charles Puryear; grandchildren, Christopher (Marshiela) Payne, Dr. Charles (Julie) Puryear; 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other family members and special friends.
The family will hold visitation on Wednesday, January 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
There will be a Masonic Service on Wednesday, January 8, from 1:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, January 8, at 2 p.m. at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper with Pastor Mike Campbell officiating.
Pallbearers are Randy Jordan, Don Brown, Chris Payne, Shannon Andregg, and Coleman Slatton.
