Carl “Wayne” Boyd, 73, of Dunlap, TN, passed away on June 29. Born on June 12, 1951, in Chattanooga, TN, he was the son of the late Albert and Mildred Boyd.
Wayne served diligently in the Army, dedicating years to military service, which shaped much of his character and commitment to his community. After his military service, he worked as a water quality analyst for the City of Chattanooga, where he played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the community’s water supply.
A man of deep faith, Wayne was actively involved in Greenpond Baptist Church & Riverside Baptist Church. His commitment to his faith was evident in his service as a youth minister, where he touched the lives of many young individuals.
Wayne was a loving husband to Becky Boyd, and a devoted father to the late Carla Boyd, and his daughter, Carey (Stephen) Trachian. His joy was multiplied as a grandfather to Caleb, Lara, and Jonah Trachian, Michael Chambers, and Gabriel Boyd. He is also survived by his sister, Kathy (Dan) Jacobson; brothers, Eugene (Linda), David (Joyce) and Richard (Wanda) Boyd, and sister-in-law Beverly Patton along with several nieces and nephews.
Wayne’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, and camping, often shared with his children and grandchildren, supporting them in their various activities and endeavors. Wayne’s life was marked by his dedication to his family, faith, and community, leaving a legacy that will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
The funeral was on Wednesday, July 3, in the Coulter Chapel at Lane Funeral Home in Hixson, TN with Pastor Caleb Bolton officiating. A graveside service followed at Chattanooga Memorial Park, with Military Honors, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN.
