The Marion County Commission had approved for and shared several updates regarding amendments for budgeting within the county during the commission’s recent meeting. The first amendment that was shared was of government budgeting, which consisted of several updates that pertained to the county’s overall and current budget of several departments and programs, such as for mental health transport and training for law enforcement officers. Mental health transport was announced to have had a decrease in funding, which brought it to a total amount of $6,320.73, while decrease in law training was at a total of $24,000. Other information added included grants from both state and federal parties, with the state granting $10,000, while federal state providing an additional $14,165.42. Other information added included charges from the sheriff as well as charges from the local election commission, which added everything to a total budget of $83,401 for the local county government. For the Board of Education, it was mentioned that Dr. Mark Griffith was currently suffering from a kidney stone, leaving the budgeting of the Board of Education to be pushed back until the next scheduled commission meeting. For the budgeting of the county’s Highway Department, no information was shared nor any announcements were made regarding anything new from the department itself. Leaving all board members to vote in agreement on what was shared during this past month’s county commission meeting.
