Body of Tullahoma man found near interstate

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a death of a Tullahoma man on I-24 near the Haletown exit.

According to Marion County Sheriff Ronnie “Bo” Burnett, the Marion County 911 center received a call on Wed, Oct. 18, at approximately 7:23 p.m. regarding a car fire just east of the Tennessee River Bridge.

“Haletown Fire immediately responded prior to arrival Tennessee Highway patrol officer arrived on scene and extinguished blaze. Upon arrival no person was observed near the car,” Burnett said. “Detectives arrived on the scene and once processing scene discovered a male in the Tennessee River near the bank deceased.”

The male subject and owner was later identified as Jinks Hartsfield IV of Tullahoma.

The incident is still ongoing into the incident pending autopsy results and further investigation. Assisting in the investigation is the 12th Judicial Violent Crimes Task Force, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol CID and TBI Arson Investigators.

“The Marion County Sheriff’s Department expresses gratitude for the help given by the Haletown Fire Department, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, the 12 Judicial District Violent Crimes Task Force as well as The 12th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office,” Burnett said.
