Bobby Ambrester, 73

Bobby Ambrester, 73, of South Pittsburg, passed away on Friday, June 7, at home with his loved ones.

Bobby was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather as well as a beloved friend to this community. He will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him.

Bobby grew up in Kimball with his parents Billy and Bonnie Ambrester.  He attended South Pittsburg High School and was a member of the 1969 State Championship football team.  After graduating, he became a mechanic for Adcock Racing team, and later started his own mechanic business and towing service.  He was a valued member of the Sweetens Cove community where he helped to start and build the Sweetens Cove Volunteer Fire Department.  He was proud to serve as the assistant chief and later became chief. He prided himself on being the best. He enjoyed farming and taking care of his cows, but his real joy was time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years Terry Ambrester; son, Jake Ambrester; daughter, Susan (Bob) Baxter; grandchildren, Caleb (Ceri) Rector, Cole Rector, Skye Baxter, Aurora Ambrester, Bentlee Muir and great-grandson, Quade Rector.  He is also survived by his favorite aunt, Patsy Sherrill and several cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 14, at noon in the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Potter officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home prior to the funeral service in the chapel. Interment will follow immediately after the funeral service at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.

Pallbearers will be Jarvis Wooten, Bob Baxter, Larry Dale Woodfin, Jeff Keef, Jackie Kirk, and Jeff Stephens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Caleb Rector, Cole Rector, Marvin York, Hal Moss, David Abbott, and Jamie Bacon.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Marion County Sheriff Christmas for Kids, 5 N. Oak Ave., Jasper, TN 37347. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Rogers Funeral Home, 400 Laurel Ave, South Pittsburg, www.rogersfuneralhome.com (423) 837-7176.
