Betty B. Deakins, 96, of Jasper was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 16. On November 27, 1928, she was born to the late Sherman Lee Burnett and Nellie Jane Way Burnett in Sequatchie, Tennessee. Before her retirement, Betty was an RN for South Pittsburg Municipal Hospital and others in Chattanooga. She was married to Raymond D. Deakins until his death. Betty was a member of Jasper First Baptist Church for over 50 years, joining them in 1947. She was dedicated to her family and nursing, she loved her little dachshund, tending her flowers and was faithful to her church.
Betty is preceded in death by her father Sherman L. Burnett, mother Nellie Jane Way Burnett, husband Raymond D. Deakins, brothers Robert L. Burnett and Charles S. Burnett.
Left to cherish her memories are her son David “Marty” Deakins from New Hope, daughters Ramona Houts from Jasper, Patti Morris from Tullahoma, Tennessee, five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, four nephews, one niece, as well as several other family members and special friends.
There will be no service at this time.
