Barbara Diane Sanders passed away peacefully February 15, after an arduous battle with medical illness. Hailing from South Pittsburg, she attended Ft. Sanders Hospital School of nursing, graduating with an RN degree in 1965. Subsequently, she was employed at Ochsner Clinic in the field of cardiology and heart transplants and also worked as a medical office manager in Nashville. Her love and wit will be sorely missed.
She is preceded in death by parents J.R. and Margery Griffith of South Pittsburg, TN and son Christopher Lee Sanders, MD of Eunice, LA. She is survived by daughter Kelley Elizabeth Cannon and son Brett Stanford Sanders, MD of Chattanooga, TN. She is also survived by twelve wonderful grandchildren: Isaac Cannon, Ford Cannon, Emmeline Cannon, Isabel Sanders, Josette Sanders, Cole Sanders, Molly Sanders, Audrey Sanders, Franklin Sanders, Colin Sanders, Ryan Sanders, and Evan Sanders.
Visitation will be held at Marshall Donnelly Funeral home 201 25th Avenue North, Nashville, TN, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 20. Services will be held at Woodmont Christian Church at 10 a.m. Friday, February 21, followed by graveside services at Cumberland View Cemetery in South Pittsburg, TN.
