City and Marion County attorney William Gouger has provided new updates regarding Kimball’s ongoing cell tower project during the February meeting.
According to Gouger, since last month’s meeting he has once again touched base with engineer Chris Day of Gen 7 Engineering out of Soddy Daisy. He said Day has been working with residents and the developer of the Timber Ridge subdivision in Kimball to receive proper approvals needed in order for the project to officially begin. Additionally, he explained that Day was looking into providing new drawings and specifications for the cell tower, both of which has since been provided to the city board for further inspection.
“It is moving forward,” said Gouger. “It is in their opinion the best site available. It’s just a matter of getting property owners to consent to it.”
First mentioned during Kimball’s December city meeting, the cell tower project is targeted to be built directly off Timber Ridge Drive in a patch of property beside the water tower located in the subdivision. Interest towards the installation of a new cell tower were shared among city officials, particularly Kimball Mayor Rex Pesnell, who felt having a cell tower built will resolve the community’s issues of low cell services, a goal the council continues working towards achieving for this year.
