Alice Louise Officer was born January 29, 1928 to Onus and Carrie Knox. She was an amazing person with an unwavering Christian faith and unbounded love for family. She ascended the stairway to Heaven to be with the Lord on October 25, 2023, at the blessed age of 95, leaving a legacy of faithful Christian service.

She was lovingly referred to as “Annie” by nieces and nephews, “Big Mama” by former Sunday School students, and “Miss Alice” by others that knew and loved her. Her family was the center of her life as she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, an provider of the family’s favorite banana pudding for many years. She had a unique gift of relating to people wherever she went: church, doctor appointments, or on her porch. She loved interacting with people, making everyone feel comfortable in her presence, and was a beloved member of the local community.

Those who have gone ahead making a path for her are: her parents, Onus and Carrie Knox; beloved husband, Walter E. Officer Sr.; cherished sister, Tommie Lee Dennis; and granddaughter, ShaDonna Ann Phillips.

Those remaining here to celebrate her life and continue her legacy are her five children, Marlan Ann (Henry) Snodgrass, Virginia Joyce (James) Martin, Walter Edward Officer Jr., Troy Eugene Officer, Kevin Lamar Miller, and embraced daughter, Roberta McCain; her grandchildren, Sonya Marie Edmonds, Sandra Denise Koonce, Carrie Alexandra Martin, Marcus Alan Officer, Jordan Edward (Savannah) Officer, Alisha Nicole (Jerel) Smith, and Danielle Elizabeth (Dexter) Marable; her great-grandchildren, Jamarion Tre’ Shawn Miller, Tiana Phillips, Sharese Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Raven Claire-Anne Smith, Kingston James Marable, Cameron Edward Marable, Keosha Lynn Sankoh, Alena Koonce, Aniya Koonce, and Kirstin Lamon Edmonds; her great-great-grandchildren Aisha Sankoh and Kirstin Edmonds Jr.; sister-in-law, Virginia Smith, and countless other beloved relatives, loyal and devoted friends.
