Alberta “Dink” Layne, 86 of Whitwell passed away on Tuesday, April 22 with her loving family by her side.
She spent the majority of her career as a private sitter caring for others, which she enjoyed more than anything. She enjoyed spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren. She was always the life of the party at our family gatherings. She was a shark at pool and cards and didn’t take it easy on any of the kids. She was always up for a trip whether it was camping, fishing, or a casino where closing time meant nothing to her.
She was preceded in death by several family members including her eldest daughter, Sharon Sartin.
She is survived by her son Ricky (Paula) Hamlin, daughter Lisa (Mark) Gouger, daughter Barbara Hamlin (Carrie Harville), several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 30 at 3 p.m. in the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, with Pastor Michael Shrum whom officiated.
Visitation was also held on Wednesday, April 30 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service within the Jasper Chapel.
