On Tuesday, December 5, the Marion County Chamber of Commerce and Arts in the Burg held ‘A Santa Cause,’ an event to highlight nonprofits in the area.

With hor d’oeuvres for every palate, multiple door prizes for those who registered and a silent auction with gift possibilities galore, there was plenty of entertainment in every corner of the Arts in the Burg showroom, including music provided by Jasmin Perez and Ryan Garcia for the nearly 100 people that stopped in.

In one area of the room sat the Santa Cause Tree where attendees could choose a “wish” requested by a number of the non-profits. Requests ranged from paper towels and Ziploc bags to pet foods or sponsorships for students to participate in camps or different activities that the non-profit may do. Some wishes are simply volunteer hours. All “wishes” or monetary donations were to be delivered to the Marion County Chamber office by Friday, December 15. Once delivered, participants are given ‘A Santa Cause’ ornament as a thank you.

The following nonprofits were represented: United Way of Chattanooga, Jasper Regional History Museum, South Pittsburg Lions Club, Nurture the Next, SPARQ, Thrive, TN River Gorge Trust, A Step Ahead, Marion County Public Libraries, South Pittsburg Historic Presentation Society, MARC, Sleep In Heavenly Peace, Rotaract, Casa/Sethra, Marion County Community Ministries (food bank), Ducks Unlimited, Just One More, Daughters of the American Revolution, Marion County 4-H, Palms Up Ministry, Champion Recovery, Smiles Dental, Whitwell Education and Heritage Foundation, Headstart, Multi-County Cancer Support Network, Arts In The Burg, Marion County Chamber of Commerce.
