Burn Permits – Burn permits are now required prior to burning leaves or debris. To get a burn permit in Marion County, you can call the Tennessee Division of Forestry at (423) 942 3665 or apply online at BurnSafeTN.org. You can also call (877) 350-BURN (2876), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., except on holidays. There is no fee for a burn permit.

The Marion County Library Board meets bi-monthly on the third Monday at 5 p.m. The meetings alternate between the two (2) libraries as follows: Beene Pearson Public Library in South Pittsburg (March, July, and November); and Orena Humphreys Public Library in Whitwell (January, May and September).
The following Committees of the Marion County Library Board meet bi-monthly on the third Thursday in these months: February, April, June, August, October and December. The meetings will be held at the Beene Pearson Public Library at these times: 3 p.m. – Policy & By-Laws; 4 p.m. – Budget & Finance; 5 p.m. – Personnel/Nomination; and 5:30 p.m. – Strategic Planning.
Dungeons & Dragons Group meets on Sundays at 9 a.m. at Beene Pearson Public Library in South Pittsburg. In addition, the group also meets for an additional game every Saturday between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for 18+ participants and is limited to up to six players in total.

Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) provides education, support and hope to family members of an adult loved one dealing with substance use disorder.
