John Sanders Jr., 83 of Jasper passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, with his loving daughters by his side.
John was born on July 18, 1942 in Jasper to the late John Sanders Sr. and Annie Gouger Sanders. He was a proud graduate of Marion County High School and honorably served his country in the United States Army. John went on to have a long and dedicated career with Chattanooga Glass Company, from which he retired.
John was known for his love of music, especially playing his guitar and for the joy he found in spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and the special moments he shared with those closest to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Judy Dixson.
He is survived by his daughters Linda Sanders (Richard Pryor), Sharon (Robert) Brown, Kristy Raines, Misty Raines and Judy Sanders Foster, one brother Jimmy Sanders, his grandchildren Keisha Durham, Trevor Romans, Madison Brown, Kaleb Foster, Ashlyn Moore, Gavin Usry, Gabriel Stekovic and Dustin Romans, and his great-grandchildren Jayden Durham and Vada Moore. He is also survived by his niece Anna Sanders along with several dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Sanders was held on Thursday, March 19 at 1 p.m. in the Jasper Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home, with Pastor Roger Webb who officiated.
Mr. Sanders was laid to rest at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jasper.
Visitation was held on Wednesday March 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, March 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the services in the Jasper chapel being held at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers were Seth Gentry, Trevor Romans, Gavin Usry, Gabriel Stekovic, Dustin Romans and Kaleb Foster.
Arrangements were entrusted to Rogers Funeral Home, Jasper Chapel, 21 East Fifth Avenue, Jasper, Tennessee 37347.
