Randall “Randy” Allen Gossett, 70 of Jasper was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 7. Randy was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 10, 1955. He was the beloved son of Wilburn Gossett and Virginia Gossett-Clayton. Randy was a 1974 graduate of Lookout Valley High School. He was a big fan of rock and roll music and he would still play his drums. In his younger days, he helped working with the band “Alethia”. He was a long-time employee of Olan Mills Inc. and later retired from McKee Foods. Randy’s biggest loves were his family and sports. His favorite teams were the Tennessee Volunteers, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons. For years he served many different roles in the local community to help with youth sports, such as coaching his sons in baseball, President of Dixie Youth Jasper Baseball, President of Jasper Little League Football, and working for the chain crew for Marion County High School Football. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Randy is preceded in death by his father Wilburn Gossett, mother Virginia Gossett-Clayton and stepfather Al Clayton.
Those left to cherish his memories are his sons Brian Gossett (April), Scotty Gossett (Lisa) and Michael Green (Kristie), his girlfriend Mary Ann Convenio, ex-wife and friend Laura Bishop, grandchildren Alayna Gossett, Brailyn Gossett and Braxton Gossett, and best friends Mike Parker, Steve Clark, Larry Bramlett and Dennis Mineo.
Visitation was on Wednesday, March 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Tate Funeral Home in Jasper.
Funeral services were also on Thursday, March 12 at 12 p.m. in the Chapel of Tate Funeral Home in Jasper, with Pastor Garrett Reagan who officiated.
